
ABOUT
This Spring Break, embark on a journey of discovery in the world of birds! Created by award-winning scientist and biologist of 30 years and inspired by the established Cornell Bird Lab curriculum, this 5 day bird camp combines hands-on activities, outdoor explorations, and virtual learning. Learn to identify local birds by shape, size, color, and sound, discover the meaning behind bird calls and songs, build your own bird nest, and find out how birds have been teaching humans about science and engineering for hundreds of years!

Session 1-- March 15-19th

SCHEDULE
DAY 1- Diversity and bird ID
Explore different species of birds and learn how to identify them.
Activity: Bird Scavenger Hunt!
DAY 2- The Secret Language of Birds
Why do birds sing? Learn the meaning behind bird songs.
Activity: Make your own song with bird songs.
DAY 3- Feeding Wild Birds
What do birds eat? How are their beaks related to their diet?
Activity: Make your own bird feeder.
DAY 4- Flight and Migration
How and why do birds fly? Why do they migrate?
Activity: Learn the physics behind bird flights
DAY 5- Life Cycles of Birds
Nests and Eggs: What do leaves, twigs, mud and hair
have in common? What is life in a nest like for baby birds?
Activity: Build your own bird nest!
